About the Talk

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way we work, live, and interact with the world—but who decides how it should be governed? In this timely discussion, Dr. Stefani Langehennig, assistant professor of the practice at the University of Denver and lead director of the Center for Analytics and Innovation with Data, explores the growing debate over AI regulation in Colorado and across the United States.

Drawing from her work leading the U.S. State AI Policy Tracker, Dr. Langehennig will examine how lawmakers are addressing AI's role in hiring, housing, and policing, where automated systems increasingly influence important decisions. Learn how different states are approaching issues such as AI-powered hiring tools, algorithmic bias, facial recognition technology, and consumer protections.

The discussion will also explore Colorado's prominent role in the national AI policy conversation, including recent legislation, legal challenges, and ongoing debates over balancing innovation with accountability. Whether you're curious about emerging technologies, public policy, or the future of AI governance, this conversation offers valuable insights into how these rules are being shaped and what they may mean for our communities.
